People who work in the helping professions are often those who do not receive the support they need to continue on in their work. The burnout rate for people who are trying to help other people is staggering. The hours are long, the responsibilities are many, the work load is monumental, the pay is not close to what it should be, and the appreciation for the effort involved is often lacking.
"Most people got into the helping profession because it was calling. Unfortunately for many of these people it turns into "just a job."
I have over 25 years experience working with healthcare
professionals, ranging from physicians, dentists, nurses, rehab therapists, long term care people, support
people and just about anyone else you can think of in the health field.
Presentations are tailored to meet your specific needs
i.e., working with difficult families, interdepartmental problems, helping
patients deal with their fears and more. I worked in a
hospital for over eleven years and did many in-services for staff on
a variety of issues. I've had CEUs approved for my courses in
the past, and will work with staff to accrue them if that is what
they want.
I've worked with people for over 30 years who
were seriously or terminally ill, or have lost loved ones.
So, what can I do to help your employees?
- I will challenge the employee to pay
close attention to the relationship between what they think,
feel, and behave.
- I will point out various bad habits, such
as complaining and whining, that they might have fallen into and
what they can do to break free.
- I will help them reduce their stress
levels and rediscover their passion for being a helper.
- I will give them strategies so they will
not be overwhelmed by people who seem to love being miserable.
- I will help them be more sensitive to the
words they use to describe the situations they face.
- I will demonstrate the bad thinking
habits they have probably acquired through the years and show
them how to change.
- I will give them strategies so they will
not be overwhelmed by people who seems to love being miserable.
- I will give them insights and strategies
for coping with difficult situations.
- I will help your people rediscover why they got into the health
care profession.
- I can assist in getting them CEUs
- I can explore issues around death and
dying, if that is the need of the workshop or conference.
