Whether it's white collar or blue collar, management or frontline workers, the pressure on the workforce is greater than ever. Studies continually show that "stress" is a major factor in employee absences and health care problems. For many workers there is the fear of being let go. Many others are doing twice the work they used to do for the same money. Many workers are just bored with their jobs. Their energy seems to be sucked out by the repetition. Incidents of violence shows just how tough interpersonal relationships can be at the workplace. So, what can I do to help your employees?
I will... -
Demonstrate to your people the bad thinking habits they have probably acquired through the years and show them how to change
-
Give the leaders of your organization strategies they can use to maximize the emotional powerhouses that work for them, and minimize the effects of the professional negatives they also have working for them.
-
Help your people develop a sense of persistence - not quitting because something didn't go right
- Move them from being emotional victims to emotional powerhouses by
challenging the way they think.
- Help them become more aware of what they are actually thinking and telling
themselves and what feelings and behaviors are coming out of this process.
- Increase their awareness of the choices they have when faced with an
unpleasant situation.
- Help your employees understand the difference between problem solving and complaining
- Give them strategies so as not to be overwhelmed by people who seem to
love to be miserable.
- Increase their awareness of habits they might have fallen in to that keeps both
them and the workplace in a negative space.
- Raise their sensitivity to the words they use to describe their situations
because words don't just describe situations - they create them.
- Help them understand the different components of an effective communication style.
There are no fast fixes for many of the problems facing the workforce
today. If people want things to be different, they have to work at it.
However if they don't know how to work at changing things, they waste a lot
of time.
I try to give my participants strategies and the rationale behind the
strategies to cope with difficult situations, rediscover their passion for
living and working, and tap into their creative reservoir both at work and
in life in general. To learn more about this program or to schedule me to speak at your next workshop or seminar, click on
